The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), has identified and flagged 2,658 admissions conducted during the 2024/2025 academic session as illegal. This is contained in press statement drafted on October 31, 2025, coinciding with the closure of the admission process for the 2025/2026 session in public universities and made public today - November 1, 2025. According to report gathered by EruditeNewsBlog, the irregularities were uncovered through JAMB's routine institutional analysis, which audits admissions data against its mandatory Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS). Admissions processed outside CAPS such as direct placements, backdoor entries, or unverified offers are deemed invalid, as they bypass merit-based selection, transparency, and quota allocations.
