UNN VC, Others Lifts Suspension on SUG Activities Amid Internal Turmoil

The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) has lifted the suspension of Students’ Union Government (SUG) activities on its campus, effective immediately, as announced by Registrar Dr. Mrs. C.N. Nnebedum. The decision follows a turbulent period that began with the suspension of SUG executives and subsequent campus unrest. Recall that on September 15, 2025, the SUG House of Representatives suspended Comr. Ozoagu Chinedu Godswill alongside other executives over allegations of cultism, threats to life, gross misconduct, and financial mismanagement. At the heart of the financial scandal was the alleged diversion of ₦124 million approved by the former Acting Vice-Chancellor (who has since been removed by the Federal Government) for SUG projects. According to the House's statement, the funds were withdrawn but shared among external actors and SUG officials, with no projects executed. An additional ₦100 million withdrawn from the SUG account over the past year remained unaccounted fo...

NOTICE: JAMB Central Admission Processing System Terms That Can Jeopardize Your Admission If Misinterpreted

It's no longer news that several tertiary institutions across Nigeria have commenced their admission processes for 2025/26 academic session through the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) with candidates actively checking their admission statuses. As earlier said via some of my UTME Forums, the JAMB CAPS portal is designed to streamline the admission process, allowing candidates to monitor their admission progress and make informed decisions. There has however been growing confusion surrounding terms such as “Not Admitted,” “Admission in Progress,” or  “Transfer Approval” displayed on the CAPS portal and misinterpreting any of these statuses can lead to missed opportunities or incorrect decisions. For instance, failing to accept a transfer approval promptly could jeopardize a candidate’s chances of securing admission. To address these concerns, I'll be helping with a clear and comprehensive explanation o...

The suspension letter, signed by Dr. Dominic Ekpo, Dean of Students' Affairs, and made available to EruditeNewsBlog by Elijah Ubong the Union's Director of Information who was earlier suspended by said SUG President, further directs Ekanem to appear before the university's Students' Disciplinary Committee for further investigation. ASUU Issues Ultimatum to FG, Threatens Significant Disruption to Nigeria’s Education Sector

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has issued a 14-day ultimatum to the Federal Government of Nigeria urging swift action to resolve the lingering issues in our public universities. The deadline for said ultimatum, set for October 12, 2025, comes with a warning of a two weeks warning strike, potentially escalating into a total indefinite shutdown if demands are unmet, this of course will amount to a significant disruption to Nigeria’s education sector. In a press release signed by ASUU President, Prof. Christopher Piwuna today, September 29, 2025, following the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting at the University of Abuja, the union decried FG's persistent refusal to address its concerns which has been before them for over 16 years of raising the said issues, with intensified efforts over the past three months through media and public platforms. According to the press release, the union's key demands include the renegotiation of the 2009 ASUU-FGN ...

UNN PROPOSED POST UTME SCREENING EXERCISE CALCULATION FORMULA FOR 2025/2026 ACADEMIC SESSION

This is to notify all prospective students of University of Nigeria (UNN) to ahead of Post-UTME/DE screening registration which will officially close on Monday, 22nd September by 11:59 PM, note that the university has reportedly adopted an automated screening system that will combine both JAMB-UTME scores and O’level results. Suffice it to say that there will be no manual grading for the screening process as every candidates admission chances will depend strictly on how well he/she performed in JAMB (UTME) and O’level results. The screening method is the proposed calculation method and the ratio to be used is 90:10 ratio when calculating scores. ie: 90% will come from UTME score, while 10% will come from O’level result. This means that candidates' UTME performance is very important, but their O’level results also play a good role. Mathematically, this is expressed as: [0.9 × JAMB Score] + [0.1 × Screening Score] Screening Score is gotten using the O'level Grading S...

The board uncovered 4,251 cases of “finger blending,” a sophisticated form of examination malpractice involving the alteration or combination of fingerprint data to bypass biometric verification systems, allowing unqualified candidates to take exams in place of registered ones. Additionally, 190 instances of A...

In 2018, JAMB noted that though a total of 4,683 candidates scored 300 and above, only 3,683 gained admission while 1,000 candidates were unable to gain admission. In 2019, a total of 2,967 candidates scored 3...

This is the only process of checking the 2022 UTME results for now as the Board has not uploaded it on its website for obvious reasons." “In addition, candidates are forewarned that they would, as usual, receive all kinds of messages from desperate fraudsters on how to check their results different from the aforementioned one.
