[2025/2026] Everything You Need to Know About UNIZIK Admission Procedure
The management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka (UNIZIK) has officially announced the release of Post UTME/Direct Entry screening form for the 2025/2026 academic session. It’s however worth noting that our dear prestigious institution is renowned for its commitment to academic excellence and merit-based admissions owing to the fact that it adheres strictly to the JAMB and FG’s guidelines for admitting aspirants into its undergraduate programs, and navigating the admission process, can feel overwhelming, especially for first-time applicants. Therefore, understanding the steps involved, is very important towards securing your admission. In this blog post, I’ll be helping us with a detailed breakdown of the UNIZIK admission procedure, starting from the Post UTME registration down to physical clearance.
The first step in the UNIZIK admission journey every aspirant should know is registering for the Post UTME screening exercise. Of course, this is very mandatory for both UTME and DE candidates. Just as I do tell prospective Zikites, the application doesn’t mean UNIZIK will write POST Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), it is simply an application to the institution, indicating interest of your wanting to be one of Her students.
According to a memo shared via UNIZIK official media handle, the registration is scheduled to start on Monday, 28th July, 2025 till Saturday, 16th August, 2025 (Subject to possible extension), with the deadline for change of course slated Saturday, 9th August, 2025. Kindly note that any change after this date, will not be effected via NAU POST UTME portal. In the same vein, changes on O'LEVEL RESULT won't be effected after 16th August, 2025 (subject to possible extension too).
The eligibility criteria just like in other years remains that you must have chosen UNIZIK as your first choice in the 2025/2026 UTME and scored at least the minimum JAMB score limit for your course (the one una dey call cut-off mark). And for Direct Entry candidates, you must hold qualifications such as OND, HND, First Degree, or A’Level certificates in relevant disciplines... See memo below for further details:

NOTE: Avoid your registration portal dashboard after you’ve successfully registered and ensure to have your login details as you’ll be needing it to pay your school fees after being admitted. Also, don’t use wrong email address. The email address you’ll use for the registration mustn’t be same you used for JAMB. I don’t think we need be told to use active phone number, as your One Time Password (OTP) will be sent there for the registration.
On the admission process proper, let’s note that this year’s screening exercise remains that of O’Level grades and JAMB Exam score screening. It may sound funny now but dear brother or sister, admission period is always HOT, permit me to use that word cause that’s the simple perfect definition for it. Some do fall victims of scam during this period in name of sorting admission. Let me stop here for that. I mustn’t fail to remind, if not let us know that passing your course JAMB Score limit isn’t a guarantee that you’ll be admitted. The highest or rather, last determinant is your Post UTME Aggregate Score. Below is the procedure on how to calculate your aggregate score (This is for previous years. This year’s will be made available before or few days after the deadline):
• 2024/2025 Session:
• 2021/2022 Session (More Explanatory):
And here (Image below) is last but proposed departmental cutoff mark ever released by UNIZIK with which you can judge your stance on being admitted for the course you applied for. Note however, that there is less chances of these marks being used for 2025/2026 admission.
Another important thing you should know is, checking your admission status. Normally, UNIZIK releases its admission lists in batches, starting with the merit (first) batch, followed by subsequent batches and supplementary lists.

• Click [HERE] for how to check your admission status via JAMB Caps.
On how to check your admission status via UNIZIK Portal: I’ll help us with the link via Aspirants WhatsApp Forum with which you can log in using your Post UTME registration credentials (Post UTME email and password), next is you navigating to the admission status checker to see if you’ve been finally considered for admission. If the status is showing "Admitted", congratulations! You’ve been offered provisional admission. Proceed to accept the offer on JAMB CAPS. If "Admission in Progress", it means your application is still under review. All you need to do is to keep checking for updates – if getting late, I’ll advise you either change institution or go for JUPEB so you won’t loose at both ends when admission is over. Meanwhile, if your status is showing "Not Admitted", it means you haven’t been admitted yet, but subsequent batches or supplementary admissions may include your name.
Quickly on almighty Supplementary Admission (you’ll understand why it is almighty when it starts. Lol),: If you’re not admitted in the merit or subsequent batches, don’t panic cause UNIZIK offers supplementary admission opportunities for less competitive courses. This process allows candidates to PROACTIVELY (no dulling here before the process starts) apply for alternative programs where vacancies exist. See that of last year below:
Meanwhile, when you see something as this [Image Below], it means that you’ve been offered admission but yet to reflect on the JAMB CAPS.

AFTER ADMISSION WHAT NEXT...? On accepting your admission, you proceed with paying your ACCEPTANCE FEE (Amount to be disclosed later). After paying acceptance fee and on the payment reflecting, you'll have to go for your E-Clearance, biometrics and capturing, followed by Physical Clearance and this determines the validity of your admission. Lastly is going for your medicals. For more details on this, Click [HERE].
