ASUU Issues Ultimatum to FG, Threatens Significant Disruption to Nigeria’s Education Sector

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has issued a 14-day ultimatum to the Federal Government of Nigeria urging swift action to resolve the lingering issues in our public universities. The deadline for said ultimatum, set for October 12, 2025, comes with a warning of a two weeks warning strike, potentially escalating into a total indefinite shutdown if demands are unmet, this of course will amount to a significant disruption to Nigeria’s education sector. In a recent landmark ruling, the Federal High Court in Abakaliki has in a judgment delivered on Thursday, September 25, 2025, by His Lordship, Hon. Justice Hillary Oshomah, ordered the Nigerian Correctional Service and four other respondents to pay a sum of ₦22 million in damages and costs to Barr. Sampson Imeze Ekigbo, a legal practitioner and presiding officer of a Customary Court, who was given a pretty resounding slap by the correctional officers. According to reports and a post by Barr. UNN PROPOSED POST UTME SCREENING EXERCISE CALCULATION FORMULA FOR 2025/2026 ACADEMIC SESSION

This is to notify all prospective students of University of Nigeria (UNN) to ahead of Post-UTME/DE screening registration which will officially close on Monday, 22nd September by 11:59 PM, note that the university has reportedly adopted an automated screening system that will combine both JAMB-UTME scores and O’level results. Suffice it to say that there will be no manual grading for the screening process as every candidates admission chances will depend strictly on how well he/she performed in JAMB (UTME) and O’level results. The screening method is the proposed calculation method and the ratio to be used is 90:10 ratio when calculating scores. ie: 90% will come from UTME score, while 10% will come from O’level result. This means that candidates' UTME performance is very important, but their O’level results also play a good role. Osun State Polytechnic Announces Resumption Date For All Nnamdi Azikiwe University students

The Management of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree (OSPOLY) has announced the resumption of academic activities for the Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka affiliated programmes with the Polytechnic for the 2025/2026 Academic Session. According to an internal memo from the Osun State Polytechnic through the registrar, Abiodun O. Oloyede, to all Nnamdi Azikiwe University students, the new academic session (2025/2026) begins on Monday, September 22, 2025.
