UNN PROPOSED POST UTME SCREENING EXERCISE CALCULATION FORMULA FOR 2025/2026 ACADEMIC SESSION
This is to notify all prospective students of University of Nigeria (UNN) to ahead of Post-UTME/DE screening registration which will officially close on Monday, 22nd September by 11:59 PM, note that the university has reportedly adopted an automated screening system that will combine both JAMB-UTME scores and O’level results. Suffice it to say that there will be no manual grading for the screening process as every candidates admission chances will depend strictly on how well he/she performed in JAMB (UTME) and O’level results.
The screening method is the proposed calculation method and the ratio to be used is 90:10 ratio when calculating scores. ie: 90% will come from UTME score, while 10% will come from O’level result. This means that candidates' UTME performance is very important, but their O’level results also play a good role.
Mathematically, this is expressed as:
[0.9 × JAMB Score] + [0.1 × Screening Score]
Screening Score is gotten using the O'level Grading System which is as follows:
Grade Points
A1 90
B2 80
B3 70
C4 60
C5 50
C6 40
O'level sitting score - 40 Marks
Kindly note that the O'level sitting score is awarded to candidates who use one sitting only i.e He/she didn't combine two results. And that, there's no mark awarded for Subjects with D7 Grades.
SAMPLE
Hillary, a UNN Aspirant obtained the following Results;
JAMB Result - 280
O'level Result (Core Subjects):
- English - B3
- Physics - C6
- Biology - B3
- Chemistry - B2
Screening Score = [70 + 40 + 70 + 80] = 260
Since Hillary used just one sitting, he'll get additional 40 Marks.
Screening Score = 260 + 40 = 300.
(The O'level Sitting Score is added to the Screening Score not JAMB Score.)
Post Utme Aggregate Score = [0.9 × 280] + [0.1 × 300]
Post Utme Aggregate Score = 252 + 30 = 282
Therefore, Hillary's Post Utme Aggregate Score is 282.
All prospective students can calculate their Aggregate Score beforehand using the Aggregate calculation formula, and properly weigh their chances and decide on the next step to take before portal for registration or corrections closes.
CANDIDATES SHOULD FURTHER TAKE NOTE OF THE FOLLOWING:
• The Post Utme Aggregate Scores determines one's Admission. And It can be weighed against the the cut off marks to determine Admission chances. A trusted Admission Guide like Ultimate Solution can come in handy in a situation like this where Cut Off Marks are not officially published.
• No O'level Upload, No Admission. Candidates most especially those who used Awaiting Results during registration are advised to ensure their O'level Results are properly uploaded on both JAMB CAPS and UNN Portal to avoid complications once Admission commences.
• O'level Validation is a major criteria to accessing the Screening Results once it's published on the Portal. Therefore, Candidates who haven't completed their Validation are advised to do so as soon as possible. However, Candidates who are still facing Validation issues despite having completed the pre-requisite steps are advised to remain calm as the ICT Unit resolves the issue.
• Don't forget that, to become a student, one has to meet the University of Nigeria, Nsukka general entry requirements to wit; possessing five credit passes via O'Level result which must include a credit pass in English Language and a Science subject in not more than two sittings. Meanwhile entry requirement for Direct Entry must include UTME requirement for that particular course.
• Finally, remember that admission is not by chance but by information. Staying informed is key to securing admission. Do not ignore vital updates that may affect your chances this session.
GOOD LUCK.
