Maazi Nnamdi Kanu's youngest brother, Prince Emmanuel Kanu alongside Barrister Aloy Ejimakor, the lead counsel for Maazi Nnamdi Kanu, has been arrested today - October 20, 2025, in Abuja during an earlier scheduled peaceful protest demanding Kanu's unconditional release.
The arrest in a report gathered by EruditeNewsBlog, occurred amid a demonstration organized under "#FreeNnamdiKanuNow and #MNKOct20," where protesters to wit: supporters of Kanu, including family members, legal team representatives, and activists, gathered to highlight what they describe as Maazi Kanu's unjust prolonged detention and trial. Security forces, including police and possibly army personnel, dispersed the crowd using tear gas before the multiple arrests of protesters including Ejimakor and Kanu's youngest brother, Prince Emmanuel Kanu.
Ejimakor confirmed the arrest himself via a post on Twitter stating: “We’ve Just Been Arrested... At FCT CID, No 1 Zaria St, Garki 2, Abuja.” The location was specified as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command CID at No. 1 Zaria Street, Garki Area 2. See post below:
Other reports indicate that the protesters were marching toward Eagle Square and the Secretariat when security forces intervened, with some accounts mentioning gunfire and injuries among demonstrators. Despite the crackdown, protesters regrouped and continued marching toward Aso Rock, the presidential villa.
